- Lifeboats: Despite its grandeur, Titanic only had 20 lifeboats, enough for 1,178 people, far less than the 2,200 passengers and crew onboard. White Star Line deemed extra lifeboats unnecessary due to regulations and the ship's supposed "unsinkability."

- Launching Hesitation: There was more than an hour of delay before the lifeboats began to launch, partly due to confusion, disbelief in the ship's imminent sinking, and concern over overcrowding the lifeboats. This hesitation led to many boats leaving only partially filled.

- The Davits: The ship used Welin davits, advanced cranes capable of holding two rows of lifeboats. Titanic, however, only carried a single row, so the davits’ full potential was never utilized. Interestingly, one davit still stands on the wreck today, forever pointing straight up, a silent witness to the frantic efforts to save lives.
